What Does this blood Test Result Mean?

Hello!

Blood test came back with a high:
352 triglycerdides
514 creatine kinase
My age is 64, and I had polio as a child of 2. My doctor had me on Simvastatin, which i no longer am using, but still use Triamt/hctz 75-50 mg.
My question is: can I bring the level of Creatine Kinase down using some natural substance?

Thank you, Jim

Dear Jim,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Healthcare Magic. I read your query and I understand your concern.

Creatine Kinease (CK) in a muscle enzyme, found in different muscles and organs in your body, including your skeletal muscle, brain and heart. Elevated levels are generally used for clinical measure of muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis) and are widely used to monitor the safe use of statins. It can be an indication that you have developed a nerve or muscle (or neuromuscular) disease, as in your case previously poliomyelitis. People may have CK levels that are significantly to greatly increased, depending upon muscle damage severity.
My question is when did you stop taking Simvastatin?
Most CK levels elevated by drug effect will return to normal within a month.
Regarding your question, let me give you some tips how to lower CK and triglyceride (TG) level naturally:
-use foods, herbs, and vitamins can help to lower elevated levels of CK and TG such as artichoke, garlic extract, red yeast rice, green tea, walnuts and almonds oats, legumes, prunes, apples, carrots, and broccoli.
-Increase your intake of vitamin C and vitamin A, or eat sweet potatoes
-Load up on magnesium, eating magnesium-rich foods like pumpkin, bananas, beet, spinach and other green leafy vegetables
-Get plenty of omega-3s and 6s, by using foods like sardines, anchovies and salmon; eggs, milk, milk products, flax seeds, nuts, avocado etc.
-Lower how much fat and salt you eat each day
-Avoid a high-protein diet
-Avoid strenuous exercise
-Do warm-ups before doing any high intensity exercises

Hope I helped with my answer. For further concerns or follow up questions don't hesitate to write again.

Take Care,
Dr. Ina
